We are seeking a skilled and motivated Automotive Technician to join our team at Johnsons Auto Repair. As an Automotive Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of vehicles to ensure optimal performance and safety for our customers. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Vehicle Diagnostics: Perform comprehensive diagnostic tests on vehicles using specialized tools and equipment to identify issues with engines, transmission systems, brakes, electrical systems, and other key components.
- Repairs and Maintenance: Conduct repairs and maintenance on various types of vehicles, including minor repairs, part replacements, and more complex systems troubleshooting.
- Routine Maintenance: Perform scheduled maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, brake checks, and fluid top-offs, ensuring that vehicles run efficiently and safely.
- System Overhauls: Work on complex systems, including engines, transmissions, and electronics, providing full overhauls or upgrades when necessary.
- Customer Communication: Effectively communicate with customers to explain findings, offer maintenance recommendations, and answer any questions related to their vehicles’ condition.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of work performed, parts used, and time spent on each job to ensure proper documentation and billing.
- Safety and Cleanliness: Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment at all times.
- Stay Updated: Continuously improve technical knowledge by staying current with industry trends, vehicle technology, and repair methods.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (ASE certification preferred).
- Proven experience as an Automotive Technician or Mechanic (3+ years preferred).
- Strong knowledge of automotive systems, diagnostic tools, and repair techniques.
- ASE certifications (such as in Engine Repair, Brakes, or Electrical Systems) are highly desirable.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Good communication skills to interact with customers and team members.
- Ability to lift heavy objects, bend, kneel, and work in various physical positions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree in Automotive Technology
- Experience with advanced vehicle systems.
- Experience in working with diagnostic software and automotive repair platforms.
- Willingness to pursue further training and certification as required.
